Funding to maintain and manage the Town Hall
As a registered charity, the Trust relies on income from hiring of its’ facilities, a grant from Axbridge Town Council, rental from various assets owned by the Trust and our ‘150 club’. We regularly seek grants from large organisations with an interest in preserving our heritage and these have included the Hinkley Connection Project, Somerset Community Foundation and Sedgemoor District Council. We are currently working on a grant application from The Lottery Heritage Fund to preserve the town maces and banners for future generations to enjoy.
150 club
The 150 club is an important part of our fundraising as it not only provides a steady income, it also directly involves our community with our work to preserve and improve our town. Six cash prizes are awarded at each bi-monthly Trust meeting and the lucky winners receive a cheque very soon afterwards.

Its just £25 for the year – so join and be part of 6 draws, where the prizes are: 1st £50, 2nd £35, 3rd and 4th £25 5th and 6th prizes are £20. The first draw each year takes place in October. Just 150 places available.

Why do we fundraise?
It is a constant job and we’re sure that those who pass through the Square will have seen that the exterior of the Town Hall has been extensively repaired and decorated. We have a rolling replacement and update programme to ensure that furniture, decoration of the hall, fixtures and infrastructure are up to date and efficient.
The Town Trust twice annually replants the beautiful planters in the Square. The Trust also need to plan for the future and have to be prepared for unexpected expenses, particularly as the Town Hall is now approaching 200 years old! All of these projects require considerable sums of money and are carried out to enhance the town and our resident’s experience. We are fortunate to have Trustees who are able to manage our resources effectively and your support is very much appreciated.
