Town Trust Meeting Report – October 2025

October 2025 Meeting Summary

Matters discussed included:

  • A laser projector and 3m screen has been installed in the Town Hall. Currently, the use of the projector is included in hire costs (terms apply).
  • The Fair came to town in September; Axbridge Blackberry Carnival has been taking place for decades in its current form, but the history of fairs in Axbridge goes back much further than the 1990s!
  • In 1279 a charter granted by Edward I allowed for the towns very first fair. This means that Axbridge will have been holding fairs for 750 years in 2029, when the next Axbridge pageant takes place.
  • Axbridge Heritage Evening takes place in the Town Hall on the 1st of November. Why not come along to find out more about the rich history of this Somerset town. Doors open at 7pm. There is a pay bar, free entry. No tickets – just turn up.
  • The trust is exploring options for new planters in the square.
  • Maintenance and improvements for our Town Hall continue, with planned works to replace the kitchen door, and repair the kitchen windows, as well as tidy and enhance the town hall entrance hall.
